So far this year, there’s been shooting at the waterfront Cinco de Mayo festival and outside a community center. Now we’ve got three people shot at Last Thursday. Police say a 16-year-old shot two 15-year-old boys and a 25-year-old woman at around 7 pm last night. They caught up with a suspect a couple blocks away. I’m being completely serious when I say it’s good police were in the area cracking down on arts vendors at the mayor’s direction.

It’s a shocking thing, obviously (though apparently not to the spectators who were taking selfies at the crime scene and complaining they couldn’t get to Salt & Straw), but only because it happened in a place we don’t expect shootings. The Oregonian has this rundown of alleged gang violence so far this year.

Portland seems to be grasping some urgency around creating more affordable housing, right? I’m hearing it discussed more frequently thane ever. So check out this helpful summary from the Tribune detailing the various pots of money out there to help ease the city’s housing crisis.

Face it, everybody else. Indian Americans have the American English language on lock. Stop being racist about it and practice your spelling for a change.

Stare in disbelief at this Daily Mail story, which chronicles the plight of British “holidaymakers” in Greece who have to endure the sight of refugees fleeing ISIS.
