“The whole world is watching!” That was one of the many chants kayaktivists screamed at authorities trying to break the #ShellNO blockade near the St. Johns bridge on Thursday. And they were right. As pointed out in the Merc‘s running coverage yesterday, it was all eyes on Portland.

And it was damn hot out there on the water. It’s gonna be another scorcher today, but not as hot as Iran, where the heat index was recorded at 154 degrees. Keep burning those fossil fuels, guys!

President Obama is the one who issued the permits for Shell to drill for more oil in the Arctic, but apparently he’s got a Clean Power Plan in his pocket.

Speaking of oil, probably a lot of the fruit you eat out of California was irrigated with oil field wastewater, and water authorities just gave the green light for it to keep happening for another 2-1/2 years. Mmmm mmm, yum!
