GOOD MORNING, BLOGTOWN! You’re lickin’ your lips, and blowing kisses my way. But that don’t mean I’m gonna give it away. LET’S GO TO PRESS.
As Dirk reported late last night, Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler is officially running against Charlie Hales for the mayor’s seat. WE GOT OURSELVES A RACE, PEOPLE!
And as Dirk reported early this morning (does he ever sleep?!?), at long last it seems Portland is going to get the bike share program we’ve been waiting on for years, starting with 600 bikes by next summer.
The governor’s office has released 5,000 more of former Governor John Kitzhaber’s emails… if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
Oregon Judge Vance Day—who has refused to officiate gay weddings—is shocked… SHOCKED!… that he’s under investigation for hanging a picture of Hitler in a courthouse, allowing a convicted felon to handle a gun, and taking money from a lawyer for a pet project. Funny… I’m not so shocked.
Congrats to Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning female monarch in the world today. Take a day off, you deserve it!

The Syrian refugee crisis continues, and the president of the EU is asking partner countries to come up with a cohesive plan to accept and spread out refugees across the continent. Meanwhile in the US, Donald Trump is all like, “Me hate refugees and humanity in general. But we’ll take them since it’s all Barack Obama’s fault.” (???)
Guess who’s not invited to the congressional hearings about Planned Parenthood’s so-called “alleged atrocities”? PLANNED PARENTHOOD.
Presidential hopeful Jeb Bush is trying to desperately claw his way from beneath Donald Trump’s shadow, by throwing his brother under the bus, saying that he is waaaay more conservative than former prez George W.
Meanwhile Hillary Clinton is taking a tough stance with Iran, threatening the country that she won’t hesitate to send in troops if they try to acquire nukes—ummm… that is, if and when she’s president.
Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis—who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses—is out of jail, and due back to work either Friday or Monday. (I bet all her co-workers are like, “Yayyyyyyy.”)
In Virginia, cops get into a gunfight with suspects outside a convenience store, firing into their car… but don’t realize there’s a baby inside.
Now here’s what’s happening in WEATHER-VILLE: Cloudy and 80 today, and a not-so-blessed return to HOT weather later in the week!
And finally, here is either the greatest shot in the world, or the worst shot in the world… guess it depends on who you are!
