Ansel Herz, a freelance multimedia reporter, got pepper sprayed as he took this video of the clash between cops and protesters last night after occupiers marched in Seattle and blocked rush hour traffic:
Over at Mediahacker, Herz writes: “For all their hyperbole, the guys yelling at the cops were accurate in pointing out that people were, at that point, standing on the sidewalk. … SPD’s use of pepper spray tonight was reckless and unnecessary and it surely has the effect, whether intentionally or not, of intimidating people from joining or even being near the Occupy movement.”

Where is the sidewalk in that video? I guess maybe it doesn’t have a curb? Is it in a square, or something? They yelled “sidewalk!” about 300 times in that video, but it sure looks like the street. You do see the lightpost, but not until the cameraman turns around and looks backward – it looks like a good 10-15 feet from where the scrimmage line began.

That granny looks tougher than our own ‘martyr’ James.
Very few of those cops had their faces covered. How long until a protestor -or an infiltrator- whips out some spray of their own and retaliates?
If the cops were smart, they would have used Fabreeze first.
