Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Batshit) explains why:

* But only if you’re a right-wing lunatic. If you’re a sensible person who lives in blue state, or a reliably Democratic congressional district, it’s perfectly safe to fill out your census form and your participation in the census could mean another congressional seat for your state and more federal and state funding. Because Obama’s jackbooted thugs are not going to round you up. So fill that form out! But if you live in a Republican district—like, you know, Michele Bachman’s—you’re going to want to play it safe and tear up that census form. Because socialism! Stalin! Hitler! Gay marriage!

  1. Yeah, this is the same congresswoman who helped whip up all this racist tea-bagging hatred with talk of “Obama re-education camps”. How can someone say something soo bat-shit nuts & STILL keep their job?!

  2. Remember, ujfoyt and DamosA…

We are a lake of blue in an ocean of red. There are puh-lenty of douchebags in the rest of Oregon perfectly willing to accept and vote for these types of batshit-crazy loonies.

Oh, and not filing your census is against the law, so I hope lots of the batshit-crazy loonies don’t.

  3. That bitch is crazier than a jock strap full of piranhas. I’m pretty sure she was reading off a teleprompter but it’s hard to tell since she’s always got that half drugged/hypnotized look in her eyes.

  4. Maybe Bachmann is crazy. But I don’t doubt for a second that, if the federal govt finds it useful, they will seek the census for the information they think they need. It’s happened more than once in the past, and what’s so different about these times than those?

I’m willing to tell the govt how many people live in my household, for the purposes of Congressional counting. What more do they need to know, esp about race? We’re supposed to be a colorblind society. Let’s start acting like it.

  5. I get where you’re going, Phonon, but remember that there are a lot of government programs that work off of race. I don’t necessarily agree with those, but they do exist and without abolishing them and other racially-derived programming, they have every reason to ask.

I’m 100% with you on the colorblind bit. Just trying to shed some light as to “why” they’re asking.

  6. How often are the whites of Bachmann’s eyes above the iris NOT visible? Of course, anyone’s eyes get like that when one is worked up. Since hers are that way virtually permanently, once can conclude that she is permanently worked up. This is the face of lunacy.

As to a “color-blind society,” everyone thinks it’s significant that a (half-)Black man is president. This is because (and ONLY because) our society is nowhere near “color-blind.” When no one can say “s/he got that job [despite/due to] being [(ethnicity/race)],” and be taken seriously, THAT will be a sign of a (more) “color-blind society.” Racism didn’t exist only in segregation laws, and it didn’t disappear with them, either. Racism is a weapon of class war. When we become “status-blind,” I imagine “color-blind” will follow soon after.

  7. Regarding a colorblind society, I think a quote from Gandhi says it best, though he was talking about peace: “There is no path to peace. Peace is the path.”

Same with a colorblind society. There is no path to it, as we think we have been on in the last 50 yrs (150 yrs?). Let’s be colorblind, and not continually sneaking up on it. The latter never gets you there.
