Actually, with all the reverb from the microphones, a more accurate headline for this post would be “Here’s Edward Snowden-owden-den-en Speaking-eaking-king-ing at SXSW.” But I know a lot of you are interested in Snowden, and hopefully you’ll be able to muddle through this video until someone gets a workable transcript up online:

Reports from SXSW indicate that Snowden said he would absolutely do this all over again if he had the choice. And Sarah Gray, live-blogging at Salon, writes:

Snowden is also addressing our misallocation of intelligence, with its emphasis mass surveillance, explaining that, “If we hadn’t’ spend so much on mass surveillance, we might have caught [the Boston Bombers].”

  1. I’m glad that Snowden has found himself a home in a open society, free of government controlled spies that take advantage of its’ citizens.
He only deserves the best, after all.

And, I’m sure all those allegations about hime stealing co-workers passwords to gather information are just poppycock nonsense. He would never do such a thing!

  2. That’s funny about the Boston Bombers. Russian intelligence knew exactly what was up with Tamerlan Tsarnaev, and repeatedly warned the FBI about him after they kicked him out of the country.

I wonder if they also knew about Ruslan Tsarnaev, the outspoken uncle of the brothers was married to Samantha A. Fuller until 2004. Samanthaโ€™s father being Graham Fuller, the senior CIA person who was the architect the Afghan Islamic fundamentalist Mujahideen war against the Soviets.
