Presidential nominee Barack Obama will be on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight, and ABC political blogger Jake Tapper has the scoop on Obama’s reaction to the whole “Pig Wearing Lipstick” debacle. Here’s a sneaky peek of how Obama responded when Letterman asked if Republicans overreacted to the comment:
“Look this is … sort of silly season in politics — not that there’s a non-silly season in politics,” Obama says. “But it gets sillier, and it’s a common expression, at least in Illinois, I don’t know about New York City, I don’t know where you guys put lipstick on here.”
To audience laughter, Obama says, “In Illinois, the expression connotes the idea that if you have a bad idea — in this case, I was talking about John McCain’s economic plans — that just calling them change, calling it something different doesn’t make it better. Hence, lipstick on a pig is still a pig.”
Man, is New York gonna be mad when they hear what Obama said! Check out the rest of the silly exchange tonight on the Late Show (11:30 pm, CBS).

Obama on Letterman was just amazing. I’m so damn happy he made the lipstick on a pig comment, shows he can fight! It’s such a brilliant attack on both Palin and McCain. “Following their logic, she would be the lipstick” was his best line from the interview.
