With Sarah Palin out there accusing Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists,” and trying to revive the Rev. Wright scandal (despite having preacher issues of her own), it looks like everything is fair game in the last four weeks of this election.
And “everything” includes Trig.
Sarah Palin has not released her medical records. The circumstances of Palin’s “secret” pregnancy and Trig’s around-the-world birth are bizarre in the extreme. And before Palin’s nomination turned pre-marital sex and teen pregnancy into virtues, the fundy governor of Alaska had a motive to pass Trig off as her own son. Now we could give Palin the benefit of the doubt here — indeed, she would deserve it — if everything else that’s come out of Palin’s mouth wasn’t a lie. She lied to the American people about the bridge to nowhere, divestment from Sudan, trade missions to Russia. Why should we take Palin’s word on Trig’s birth or anything else?
Check this out: It’s a list of babies born in April at the hospital where Sarah Palin claims Trig was born in April. Only Trig isn’t on the list. And check this out: when she ran for mayor of Wasilla, Palin demanded that her opponent release his marriage certificate. She wanted him to prove that he was actually married to his wife — because, you see, his wife used her maiden not, not her husband’s last name. For all voters knew, Sarah Palin insinuated, her opponent was living in sin right there God-fearing Wasilla. And living in sin and everything that goes along with it — premarital sex, children born out of wedlock — is just wrong. (Or was wrong — Bristol and Levi’s appearance at the RNC was a “game-changer,” as they say.)
No one has taken more of a pounding for raising questions about Palin’s record — her lies, her qualifications, and the circumstances of Trig’s birth — than Andrew Sullivan. And Sullivan says:
Why would a hospital exhaustively record all births on their premises and leave out easily the most famous baby ever born there? There were only 24 births at Mat-Su in April of this year: it’s not like they could have mislaid one. So why is there no formal record of Trig’s birth? This is not an “unspeakable” question. It’s a simple factual one. Presumably there’s an explanation. Perhaps the Palins decided that it would be an invasion of Trig’s privacy to have the birth actually recorded in the hospital where he was born. But at least they should be able to tell us that. Or perhaps the hospital decided for some reason not to record that one birth. I have no idea. I do know that if Sarah Palin were running against Sarah Palin, she would demand evidence, as she did with something just as accessible with respect to John Stein’s marriage license.
Release Palin’s medical records.
Americans don’t have a right to know every last detail of Palin’s messy, sprawling family life — we’re really not interested in every last detail, frankly — but we do have a right to know if Palin lied to us about Trig too.
Via Slog.

Gov. Palin appears to be a serial liar with more baggage in her closet.
Tell the truth, Gov. Palin. Come clean and tell the truth. Stop demanding one thing from people and excusing you and your family from doing the exact opposite!
This, to me, is her most transparent lie, and has been from the beginning. You have but to watch the youtube video of her walking through town with a reporter when she would’ve been 7 1/2 months pregnant and she’s not showing at ALL.
I’m still waiting for her daughter to have that last minute “miscarriage” for sympathy votes just before the election.
Fucking ridiculous. It’s time to take the gloves off.
I hate to say it, but none of this will matter despite how much scandal/untruths are exposed about Palin.
Unless Palin shows up on video burning bibles, the people on “main street America” are still going to vote for her. We are in a giant bubble here in Portland. I talked to my Eastern Washington relatives over the weekend and despite me filling them in on all her untruths (the ebay jet, the protests in Anchorage, etc) it didn’t matter. Their response was just that she was one of them, and that the press wasn’t being harsh enough on Obama.
Posts like this make me even more sad about: the current state of politics, the general idiocy and priorities of the elctorate, and the hope that someday the whole process won’t be this fucking pointless and stupid. Sigh…
Track record? Like you, Dan, I’m especially interested in Sarah Palin’s bizarre _Trig_ record. What should have bulged has been flat, and what should have been flat has bulged. Forget trigonometry for now—in this fascinating case the branch of mathematics that doesn’t add up is the _arithmetic_. Roll on, the fact-filled few days before Tuesday 4 November.
Please keep the fire under this story. There is no way Sarah Palin hid a fifth pregnancy for 7 months….travelled 8 hours after her water broke…Anyone who’s had a few babies will tell you each kid comes faster than the last. Plus, just why was Bristol home-schooled last year? WAY too much that doesn’t fit here. Crack this story wide open.
Someone should get the national enquirer to do a proper investigation. hey, they were right about john edwards..
Its true that the economy is mostly on people’s minds; But, the discovery of her lying about the birth of Trig would let us know that she would lie about anything. To hide something like this is frightning. How far would she go. This needs to be cleared uo once & for all. The medical records needs to revealed. Maybe this will be the October suprise the news media have been talking about.
Says Arlenearmy (“October 7, 2008 at 2:08 AM”): “Its true that the economy is mostly on people’s minds [. . .].”
It’s certainly the economy (thanks, James Carville, for saying something like that). And in Sarah Palin’s case it’s her habit of being flamboyantly economical with the truth. In what respect, Charleee?
Arlenearmy continues: “But, the discovery of her lying about the birth of Trig would let us know that she would lie about anything.”
Yes. It would be the tip of the iceberg, even if Palin, BSc, seems to disapprove of icebergs.
Thank you so much for keeping on this story. It does seem that nothing can stop Sarah Palin’s war path but I’ve always had hope that this sprawling and obscene lie would hit home for people. She can’t make a right-to-life campaign point out of “keeping” a baby that wasn’t hers in the first place. The facts are plain as day. “The kid is not her son.”

I am troubled by Palin’s seemingly incongruous pro-life position and having a risky amniocentesis. What was she trying to discover– that something might be wrong with her baby? The procedure itself can result in fetal death, and it doesn’t make sense that a truly pro-life individual would have it in the first place. And if she did in fact learn that she was having a baby afflicted with Down’s Syndrome, why would she take the long journey from Dallas to Wasilla AFTER her water broke? What doctor would authorize that? Did Palin not know what a potential risk that posed? I would love to see continued investigation of this.
Why doesn’t the media go to the hospital and investigate why the baby is not reigistered under recorded births – this is not rocket science – all births should be a matter of public record. Palin is running on the ticket for the most powerful position in the free world – if evidence of the birth cannot be substantiated she is blatantly lying to the American people. Transparency is a platform she has strongly campaigned on – so why doesn’t she practice what she preaches and provide the birth certificate to end all the runours once and for all???
The most comprehensive analysis of this issue is by a Republican childbirth educator who has put together a very well documented website and blog and comes to the only (sane) conclusion: Trig is not her son.

You need to check out the most thorough site on the Trig pregnancy:

Is anyone looking at the records of other hospitals in the area.
Is anyone checking hospitals nearby for a birth record for Trig? And maybe it’s not Down’s syndrome but Fetal Alcohol syndrome which can look similar, and that’s why she is hiding that it’s her daughter’s
baby.
This issue must be resolved. We, the American people need proof that Trig is the biological son of Sarah and Todd Palin.
A birth certificate would be a great start. The delivering doctor would be responsible for signing that certificate.
Palin Family, we do not believe you. Please show us we are wrong. Give us arms length proof of your claim to be the parents of Trig Palin.
Here are two websites are getting thousands of hits a day, and collecting information about question of who are Trig’s parents.
