There are only three things I’m ever anywhere before 9 am to do: exercise, travel, or unlocking the door of the Mercury office so the rather large crew shooting Portlandia can have their way with us. It was for the latter reason that I arrived at work at 7:15 am this morning—that’s right, 7:15 am!—an arrival time that I think even beats the record of that teetotaler/former news editor Matt Davis. They have, however, surrounded the building with big trucks and power cords that are running off Mercury electricity, and our reception lobby has become a holding area for television extras, all of which I’m sure is covered under the location agreement I signed off on shortly before 8 am. And hey, that’s fine, they can use us as their headquarters, but I will be visiting the craft services truck multiple times over the course of the day. This was my last haul:

(We have no idea if we’ve been written out of the script altogether or just out of the current film schedule. All I know is I’m going to leave a bit early today.)
