Mayor Adams—who plays the mayor’s assistant on Portlandia—shot this admittedly kind-of-cute promo video asking Emmy voters to show their support for the show, by “Putting an Emmy on It.” (I know… OUCH.) IFC is entering Portlandia and its creators Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein into categories such as “outstanding variety series,” “supporting actor/actress in a comedy series,” and “writing for a variety series.” Nominations will be announced on July 19, and the award ceremony drops on September 23.

OKAY, OBVIOUSLY WE ALL ALREADY KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS. However, I do have to say Sam’s argument for Portlandia’s nomination is compelling, if wrong to its very core. Watch, and let’s vote on what you think.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. More importantly, let’s get Leverage and Grimm to cast Kyle MacLachlan as mayor. See @MayorMacLachlan on Twitter. NOTHING COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT.

  2. No matter what Mayor Adams says, it pretty much registers as ” Please punch me in the face”. I don’t know if that’s just me.
