The 2011 round of holiday pop-up shops that I keep going on and on about are poised to make their debut. On Wednesday Nov 9th, at 1 pm, Mayor Sam Adams and “a surprise guest from the North Pole” (ha, dorks) will officially kick open the doors to Boys’ Fort, Trillium Artisans, Downtown Artistry, and the Portland Saturday Market Annex. However, lest we forget the success of a former pop-up that made good, Crafty Wonderland will also celebrate their first year in the brick ‘n’ mortar biz with a party from 5-7 pm and 20% off the purchase of customers who wish them a happy birthday all day, so get crackin’ on your holiday shopping list already. I’ve got two of my presents done and in the bag. I’m beating you. To help you stay on it, look forward to unfortunately named “Holidates with Downtown” coming every Thursday in December when downtown shops will be hosting myriad special events. And even if you hate presents, you might be interested in the free parking at SmartParks for anyone who enters between 4 and 6 pm on these Holidates.
