In my experience, April Fools jokes are usually flops. Dumb flops, hokey flops, jokes about the Metro agenda that make only wonks snicker.
But Cornelius Swart at the Portland Sentinel spotted this legitimately hilarious April Fools prank up in North Portland:

The jokesters slapped up fake signs on a couple other Portland roads, christening “Rowdy Piper Ave” and “Jamie Escalante Ave” (pictures below the cut). What’s the pattern here, people?!

I approve. Well done, sirs or madams.
Kinda funny! And blocks from my house, too!
(I didnt’ do it, I swear)
There SHOULD be a Rowdy Piper Ave.
Why can’t that guy move back and make an ill-advised run for mayor? Worked for Jesse Ventura.
I agree with Blabby.
There I said it!
HA! I get you all eventually!
Funny. Illegal, but funny.
Rowdy Piper Ave? Looks like Hell Comes to Blogtown*. HA HA
* (there is a Piper movie called Hell Comes to Frogtown)
For all you Blogtown Piper fans, here he is on the Adam Carolla podcast a couple of months ago. Good trip down memory lane as he tells about his early years (and YES…a bit on They Live).

“I came here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I’m all out of bubble gum!”
