I just Googled the word “PBOT” looking for the Portland Bureau of Transportation website and I want to let you know that either the city is engaging in some highly creative outreach or there is a PBOT much much more popular than the group that handles backed up sewers. Check out the top hit for PBOT:

The city’s cutting jobs, but you can still get P-BOT on your resume if you just put in a little effort…

  1. I think you might be looking for PDOT. But then again, you all are the hard nose investigative journalists, not me.

  2. This might not be completely accurate: the Bureau used to be called the City of Portland, Department of Transportation (PDOT). Many people still refer to it as “PDOT.” However, many other people who never knew the department under that name mostly-wrongly assume that people are referring to it as the acronym of the new name, City of Portland, Bureau of Transportation (PBOT, supposedly). But from what I’ve observed, the folks who’ve been around for a while haven’t switched over to calling it PBOT.

    I mean, gooogle “pdot” – you’ll get their site…

  3. There was never a “Portland Department of Transportation” Until last year or so when it became a Bureau, it was “Office of Transportation,” and the way they got to PDOT was “PortlanD Office of Transportation.”
