This week is the 100th anniversary of women voting in Oregon. It’s hard to imagine what sort of anti-women-voting campaign suffragists were up against, but this collection of anti-suffrage postcards on Sociological Images now seem hilarious.

A couple more postcards below the cut. There is also a large collection of Oregon suffrage ephemera online here, including my favorite Steamroller of Progress.

  1. Sociological Images and Steamroller Press links don’t go to the right places, and “This” in headline should be “These.” Cool post, though, Sarah.

I imagine that bare ankle and painted peek of petticoat was considered fairly hot back then.

  2. Go, steamroller, go!

Hard to believe less than 100 years ago the US was imprisoning women for this. In a hundred years we’ll be baffled that gay rights weren’t the norm.
