Well, it’s official: In a 4-1 series the Giants have beat the Rangers in their home stadium tonight. The last time the Giants won a World Series, gas was 21 cents a gallon and Dwight D. Eisenhower was president. Way to go, Timmy Lincecum, Brian “fear the beard” Wilson, and Co. Now we Portlanders can officially turn all of our attention back to our fair city and our winning Blazers!

  1. Never mind that the Giants hadn’t won in decades, I’m just happy to see Texas get their oversized hats handed to them. Yes, I’m the type that roots against teams, not for them. (I’ll make an exception for the Blazers, though.)

  2. The San Francisco Giants have never won a World Series. Talking about the last time they won the big one is like talking about the Seattle Pilots.
