All of the following games are not happening. After another day of synchronized swimming in their respective money vaults, the NBA player’s union and ownership groups failed to come to an agreement to end the lockout, so the league has punished us all (not to mention the thousands of low-wage arena workers) by canceling the first two weeks of the 2011-12 season. Take it away, sad, sad press release:
NEW YORK, October 10, 2011—The NBA announced today that it has canceled the first two weeks of the 2011-12 regular season because a new collective bargaining agreement has not been reached with the National Basketball Players Association. This cancellation includes all games originally scheduled to be played through November 14.
“Despite extensive efforts, we have not been able to reach a new agreement with the players’ union that allows all 30 teams to be able to compete for a championship while fairly compensating our players,” NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said.
Two weeks ain’t so bad. Plus this means one less Blazers game against the Spurs, which is never a bad thing. Plus, it’s not like anonymous GMs are making dire comments off the record, right? Oh, dang.

Think positive thoughts! Think positive thoughts! Think positive thoughts! Think positive thoughts!
If there are only 50 regular season games, Greg Oden could technically say he played an entire NBA season! *sob*
So sad! Now we can’t watch millionaires chase after a ball.
I’m going to figure out the NHL this season. It’s going to be dope. Screw Wesley Matthews and Lamarcus Aldridge’s sick dunks.
@BlackedOut: I was thinking WNBA myself, but then I found out the season just ended.
ESPN and TBS should just air classic game in lieu of. Seriously, they’ll probably get better ratings than the first 3/4ths of the your typical NBA season.
