Say hello to Marcus Camby!
Say goodbye to Brandon Roy!

Last night the Blazers welcomed their latest acquisition, former Defense Player of the Year, Marcus Camby. It was just a news conference only, but Camby charmed the media and will make his debut Friday night against the Celtics. Last night also marked the return of Brandon Roy, back after nearly a month on the bench with an hamstring injury. How’d that go? Great, for about 15 minutes. Then Roy aggravated his hamstring once again, and left the game. In the postgame press conference, Roy declared his season to be in “jeopardy.”

When God opens a window, he repeatedly slams our head in a door.

As for the game itself, Camby had a front row seat as his new team dispatched is old team (the Los Angeles Clippers) by a score of 109-87. With Travis Outlaw no longer nipping at his heels, Martell Webster had a career night with 28 points, including seven three-pointers. The Clippers’ All-Star center Chris Kaman turned the ball over seven times (two less turnovers than the Blazers had as a team) and was held to a quiet four points. The win doesn’t change the Blazers’ position in the playoff hunt (they’re still the eighth seed), and with Roy once again out for an undetermined stretch of games, that’s where the team will probably stay.

Highly doubtful. The team doesn’t need Brandon to win. They’ve proven that all ready, time and again. They will need him to win the playoffs, but they don’t need him to get into them and they don’t need him to advance from 8th place.

I say let Brandon sit as long as he needs to. If his career is over, we’ll find someone else and move on. But I highly doubt that. I understand he’s bewildered right now with a frustrating injury, but it’s important for us as fans not to go down that path with him and stay positive.

The boys looked awesome last night (albeit against one of the worst teams in the league) and there’s an insane amount of talent on both the starting squad and the bench (which scored an obscene amount of points last night, I might add).

Calm down. The Blazers are fucking fine.
