The 2019 Time Based Arts Festival (TBA) opens tonight! There's so much going on. Almost everything about TBA's opening night is free and programed to intersect with downtown's First Thursday gallery openings. Here are our picks for the fest, one of which you can attend this evening.

At 6 pm, Eiko Otake performs a variation of her solo project A Body in Places at the Center for Contemporary Art & Cultures on 511 NW Broadway. She has performed variations at more than 40 locations, most notably in contaminated landscapes impacted by the 2011 Fukushima disaster. An installation of A Body in Places will be on display through Thursday, October 24th.

Opening before that, at 5 pm, Cannupa Hanska Luger's A Frayed Knot, AFRAID NOT exhibition at C:3 Initiative (in their new downtown location at 412 NW 8th Ave) opens with a performance. The installation itself is on view through Friday, October 18th.

Over at the TBA Block Party, Poโ€™Shines BBQ provides barbecue from 7 pm - 9 pm (the food is the only thing that isn't free), before the Like a Villain ( Holland Andrews) performance at 9 pm, followed by a DJ night from Noche Libre Collective: DJ La Cosmica, DJ LaPaushi, and DJ Mami Miami.

We'll have writers and photographers out at the festival tonight and for the next two weeks so look for coverage popping up on our TBA blog. Hope to see you out there!
