Proof that comedians have risen up the cultural ladder alongside musicians. They’re being used to sell expensive Japanese denim. Male comedians, even. Self Edge shot their lookbook for the winter season at LA’s The Comedy Store—a venue that nurtured people like Richard Pryor, David Letterman, Roseanne Barr, and Robin Williams—tapping comics Bobby Lee, Nick Youssef, Dean Delray, and Kevin Christy to model the label’s looks, which also include flannel shirts and jackets. A little L.A. centric, sure, but the small company has several location two of which are in California, including its spot here in Portland’s Union Way complex, where it has quickly gained a foothold as a niche supplier of super-tough denim pants, jackets, shirts, and more.

I was apprehensive at first, but this store has turned into the only place i shop in Portland now. Everything else feels second rate compared to what these guys sell.
