Yesterday, Lucasfilm issued a press release revealing plans for an unusual new Star Wars TV series. Building on the success of high-profile parodies from the Family Guy and Robot Chicken crews, the Lucas camp is planning a sitcom series based on the famous galaxy far, far away….
Lucasfilm promises a “playful and irreverent” tone, something that will likely find parallels with the Star Wars treatments seen in the two themed Chicken specials. Via.
IESB has exclusively learned that George Lucas is currently in pre-production on yet another Star Wars animated series. The key demographic? Pre-School to Kindergarten aged children, yes, the Star Wars: Galactic Heroes will be gracing televisions very soon. The latest from Lucasland a.k.a. Skywalker Ranch is that a director has been brought on board to direct the new series based on the popular line of toys. The working title for the TV series is believed to be Squishies. Via.

Squishies? That sounds like a sex act/by-product. Also – Nooooooooooo.
I thought that’s what Phantom Menace strived to accomplish.

YAY! I cannot wait. Nerd tears taste like caviar.
Huh. I wonder if this will ever see the light of day though.
@ Graham – Says the guy with a patchy beard, eyeglasses, oily hair and a Member’s Only jacket? Really?
I wonder if Lucas’ quest for cash would permit someone like Ridley Scott to remake all six episodes, but with, y’know, dignity and storytelling ability.
Don’t worry!
“The show will also feature the writing talents of Brendan Hay (“Frank TV”) and direction from Todd Grimes (“Back at the Barnyard”).”
