Guess which famous Hollywood actor has just joined the Obama administration!

Find out after the jump! Um, spoilers and stuff, I guess, if you watch the show House. (I’ve never seen it. From what I gather, it is about a grumpy doctor! So it’s kind of like Becker.) Anyway, if you do watch House, but you didn’t watch it last night, I guess this is a pretty big spoiler.

That’s right, it’s Kumar!

Kumar, whose real name is Kal Penn, has appeared in two Harold & Kumar movies and had a role on House. But in last night’s episode, his character randomly committed suicide with little to no explanation! Now that’s what I call writing off a character. Take that, Dumbledore.

Kumar Penn is joining the Obama administration as an “associate director at the Office of Public Liason.” No word on whether his new duties include the elimination of bogarting, or picking up a 12-pack of sliders for late night grill-seshs*. Kumar Penn gave an interview with Entertainment Weekly, explaining more about the whole deal—read it here.

In the meantime, if you’re a House fan, you can go to the incredibly creepy website that Fox has set up to memorialize Penn’s character. Seriously, it’s really creepy.

Meanwhile, unsubstantiated rumors continue to circulate** that Harold will also be joining the Obama administration, as “Undersecretary of Partying Down!”.

*I’m very sorry—these were the best stoner/White Castle jokes I could come up with.
**Not really, unless me saying it just now counts as unsubstantiated rumor.

  1. Is the Merc’s fact checker still on vacation?

Kumar’s real name is Kalpen Suresh Modi. His stage name is Kal Penn.

Jesus people. Hire me to be your fact checker. $32,000 annual salary with a 32 hour work week. A fair offer.

  2. I think I made a similar offer a while back. No luck. I’m tempted to become the unpaid fact-checker intern just for the sake of banging my head into the wall less often.

  3. Sorry “Sikofit” but Graham and Boxxxxy Cat are right. This paper has more erroneous data than a badly xeroxed zine. Does anyone proofread anything at this here “paper”????
