Check out this jaw-dropping scene from this week’s episode of the new Hawaii Five-0 on CBS, and see if you can spot the “subliminal advertising.” (HINT: It’s a 50-second commercial for SUBWAY!!! EAT FRESH!!!)

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. Wow, not bad… clever way to say what they really want to say without upsetting health nuts. McDonalds should follow suit and advertise the $10 bag of McDoubles this way… breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days, and they taste great out of the microwave, too!

  2. More than a few people in this town would be doing themselves a favor by going to subway instead of voodoo donuts and taco houses. FAAAAAAAT!

  3. More advertisting for the typical American diet: meat*, white flour, lettuce, and other minimally nutritious foods: a surefire cure for obesity. *As if that land-whale on the show needs more protein and cholesterol.
PS Jared of Subway fame is a sad shill. He’s is/was not even allowed to eat other restaurants’ food in public.

  4. @4 Im not perfect either..it’s called choices. It saddens me when I see obese people take their overweight kids for fast food. Or “foodies” obsess about Foie Gras or bacon.
@geyser, he was a very well paid spokesperson. His choice. Subway is not an ideal choice either, just a little better than most
