Sense8, the Netflix series in which eight strangers wake up suddenly sharing each other’s senses and skills, is ending. Though it was created by the nerd-royalty team of the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski, the ambitious series never amassed the viewership required to fund a show filmed on location around the globe. When Netflix cancelled Sense8 in 2017, they got a lot of feedback from the show’s few but passionate fans, and eventually agreed to fund a two-hour finale—available now—to wrap up the story.
Even for a sci-fi show, Sense8 is complex: The introduction of its eight main characters makes for a long, slow build, and while I ended up caring about the diverse cast, I’ve only got room to discuss the two main things I really like about the show: (1) Its unbeatable South Korean martial artist Sun Bak, played by Doona Bae! (2) The group sex. HEAR ME OUT.
