The Portland Mercury is seeking an account executive to join our sales team. The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:
• A passion for Portland and what makes it great, including extensive knowledge of the retail and food & drink community.
• Highly organized and motivated. This is a fast paced job with lots details to keep track of.
• A love for the Portland Mercury and all of our side-hustles (HUMP, Burger Week, Savage Love, etc.).
• An understanding of the culture and voice of the Mercury.
• Previous media and/or sales experience is preferred, but it isn’t a deal breaker.
• Ability to make 20+ calls per day while maintaining a positive attitude and remaining undaunted.
• Exceptional communication skills on the phone, via email, and in person.
NOTE: The position is not a great fit for those easily discouraged by client rejection.
This is a demanding job, but also highly rewarding. The office culture is exceptional and you get the opportunity to work for an iconic media company with a rich history. Competitive compensation with base + commission.
