THURSDAY, March 27

SPRING BREAK--Wanna experience the fun of Spring Break without those vomiting frat boys? There are TWO fun choices this evening. First up, the Bhangra Spring Break Party featuring the Southeast Asian stylings of DJ Ras and Dunkin as they spin the latest Bhangra, Hindi, and hiphop remixes. Too "foreign"? Then bring the soul home at the Bosko Spring Break VIP Lounge Party, starring The Reparations, Potluck, Blessed Love, and DJ Chill. WSH
Bhangra Spring Break, Upfront Bar, 833 SW Front, 9 pm, $5; Bosko Spring Break, Red Sea, 318 SW 3rd, 9pm, $10

FRIDAY, March 28

FLUX--Art, anti-art, anarchist propaganda... the Fluxus movement is all of these things and none of them. As the Liminal company interprets it, it's an evening of miniature solo performances inspired by random objects. At FluXconcert PDX, local theater studs damaliayo, Brian Markovitz, Jason Eksuzian, and more will all throw down, and the designated objects will be up for sale, so don't forget your Discover Card. JWS
Liminal Space, 403 NW Fifth, 890-2993, 8:30 pm, $5

PUNK--The Subhumans have got their papers in order and are bringing "it" over from the Old World. Here's an opportunity to give your vinyl a rest and soak in the punk rock semen live. Or, if you're just wondering why 90% of all black Carhart clothing is adorned with their logo, now's the time to find out. MS
w/The Enemies, Voids; B Complex, 315 SE 2nd, 235-4424, 8 pm, $10

SATURDAY, March 29

SCI-FI METAL--It's a fact! Heavy metal and Sci-Fi go together like beans and cornbread, and so do tonight's line-up of bands. Don't miss Stovokor (Klingon's best metal band), Bloodhag (a Seattle outfit who writes metal songs dedicated to their favorite sci-fi writers), Kaolin the Singing Klingon (He's a Klingon! He sings!) and Hellshock (Never heard of 'em... but they sound fun!). WSH
Satyricon, 125 NW 6th, 243-2380, 9 pm

WORK SUX!--When you're shilling in a cubicle for some corporate svengali, employment can feel more like imprisonment. Just ask the Work Sucks tour--including a hobo folk song duo, a program called Best of the Employee Training Videos, and spoken word from the creator of fab work zine On Subbing--who chronicle the worst in job suckage. Work might suck, but these people are funny! JS
Jasper & Jake, Marc Moscato, Dave Roche; Nocturnal, 1800 W Burnside, 239-5900, 7 pm, all ages, $3-5

SUNDAY, March 30

ROCK-OUT--With the sound quality of a third-rate garage band, but with the charisma, energy, and talent of America's great second-rate underground club bands, The Arrivals hurl infectious "oi-oi"-style punk anthems like lightning bolts. Even if that's not your thing, it's fun to watch young men jump around and sweat a lot. JWS
w/Electric Eye, Homunculus; Reed Ping Pong Room, 3203 SE Woodstock, 771-1112, 8 pm, FREE, all ages

TECHNO DJ BATTLE--It's 12 DJs battling each other for control of the TECHNO UNIVERSE. It's a DJ explosion. You will be tripping over DJs. And they will be battling. The first half is breaks/ dnb, the second is house/techno, and hosted by Lizard King and Geisha. Don't miss it! JS
Cobalt Lounge, 32 NW 3rd, 225-1003

MONDAY, March 31

PEAKS--See Twin Peaks, for free, on the big screen. Agent Cooper serves as a role model to us all on how to be hard working but fun, quirky but not crazy, kind but firm, and sexy but not slutty. And just so you know, the episodes prove relevant even if you don't stay awake on speed for two days watching the whole series. KS
Twin Peaks Episodes 5 & 6, Mission Theater, 1624 NW Glisan, 225-5555 ex. 8832, 10:15 pm, free

TUESDAY, April 1

MUSIC--Hailing from Knoxville and hoarding a pop culture radio hit under their belts, Superdrag brings the power-pop to Lewis & Clark, in a big way. Guitar riffs galore, clever songwriting, and enough hooks to make commercial radio listenable once again. CM
Stamm Dining Room at Lewis & Clark College, 0615 SW Palatine Hill Road, 768-7000, 7 pm, $7

ANTI-WAR IS FUN--Ladies and germ-warfares... no, no, no, but seriously, folks. Today, a couple different events try to lighten the load with a touch of silliness: First off: Moonwalk for Peace! Meet under the Burnside Bridge at 6 pm, and shuffle backwards to Pioneer Square. When you're done getting your Michael on, head over to Dante's, where local stand-up comedians will host a benefit for "Not In Our Name," an anti-war organization. PB
Moonwalk at Tom McCall Park, 6 pm; Comedians, Dante's, 1 SW 3rd, 224-8499, 8 pm, $10

WEDNESDAY, April 2

ROCKERS--Best known for their power chords and infectious "I want you to want me" lyrics, the proto-arena rockers Cheap Trick have more recently toned down and become a hard-working indie club band. Two years ago, for the sake of integrity, they even turned down their compatriots, Kiss, for a revival of the bands' 1979 co-tour. PB
Roseland, 8 NW 6th, 224-TIXX, 9 pm, $22.50

WRITER/DIRECTOR--Glengarry Glen Ross remains one of the most intense, visceral plays ever written... and it's about real estate agents. Few playwrights could accomplish such a feat; David Mamet is one of them. A true stylist, he has created a brand of sharp, rhythmic dialogue ("Mametspeak") that can make the knees shake. Tonight, this theater innovator speaks. JWS
Arlene Schnitzer Hall, SW Broadway & Main, 227-2583, 7:30 pm, $23
