Portland is about to embark into a Spring storm of runway shows to rival the actual storm that woke me up at 6 am this morning (omfg, did you guys hear that?), culminating in the Mercury's own 8th (!) annual fashion show on May 12 at Sandbox Studio. Over on MOD we've put together a handy cheat sheet on all the whos, whats, wheres, and whens in the coming weeks for those of us who attend such things, but even if fashion shows aren't your typical bag, there's one, Modified Style, that's more about creative resourcefulness, charity, and a flashy party—plus, I'll be there as one of the design judges, doling out awards for looks created with limited resources, and time for amateurs and artists who typically work in other mediums, as well as professionals.

In its fourth year, this time around Modified will be at Staver Locomotive on Sunday May 6, emceed by Jefferson Smith, and Hot Biology will DJ. Most important, though, are the non-profit beneficiaries for whom the entire thing is arranged: The Pixie Project, Sisters of the Road, and CHAP. Tickets start at $15, and can be found here, plus check out the promo video of the event made by Jeff Marsh.
