Considering Portland as a potential new home? Consider the effect of over hunting an animal : extinction. Please don’t move here, Portland is full. Our city is quickly losing it’s appeal thanks to the band wagon of consumers who saw the t.v. show (commercial) and decided to buy. The young, part-time workers who enjoy the relaxed and somewhat affordable lifestyle will be run out because the cost of living will soon displace all but the rich, creating a completely different, unpleasant climate. Yes, I am bitter. Because it is sad. Do something weird in your own town.
Portland is Full

No.
Or you could always move.
Dear WHINE, ANON: Alaska’s still pretty empty, would you consider moving there if we can get BoltBus to add an Anchorage run? (Toilet’s gonna get pretty rank by the fifth day, though.)
Does NYC have an I,Anonymous or equivalent? I’d love to see if they get this kind of post.
More people left the Portland area over the summer than moved in.

Complaining about people moving to Portland is so over: I’ve been hearing people do it since 2000, and I’m fucking sick of it. Christ.
Can we stop posting these I,As please? Just delete them. They are worthless.
Good complaint, hell yes, Division street is overfilled busllshit yuppie garbage and it is spreading like a virus. I read in the Oregonian this week that funding has been approved for the Burnside Bridgehead. Some douchbag developer is going to put a 22 story yuppie monstrosity in the central eastside industial area. 246 crapartment and it will be another death nail in the central eastside.
San Francisco’s fate may well befall us, but recognizing it, bitching about it and being active in our communities may alter our yuppie future.
Can we be real about people from other states and how they drive though? I’m a careful and aware pedestrian, and I have almost been run over by cars with Cali plates 4 times in crosswalks in the last month and a half.
I’m gonna start whipping bottles at them soon.
*yawn* this tripe is so f*ckin stale. Get over yourself.
It’s been this bad for quite awhile. When did YOU first get here?
Californians here about Orygun being God’s Country, so every year, a significant number of them check it out during Summer vacation, when of course, the weather is nice like California. So, them sell everything and move to Portland. After a few, brief months, the rain starts falling, and come Spring, they are headed back South. This is only a tiny fraction of the population of Californians who do this. Trouble is, that tiny fraction is a significant number for Portland, and for every one of them that tries it, two more take their place.
As a result, there is an exponential influx of greenhorn idiots to Portland.
Portlandia ruined everything.
“Young, part time workers enjoying the relaxed, affordable lifestyle”…Who the fuck do you think is moving here in droves and jacking up the cost of living while diluting the creativity pool? I WANT you to be priced out of this town and into the suburbs or back where you came from! Are you kidding? You contribute nothing to this city, but you somehow still think you own it…
Portland is full of it alright.
Portlame Snoregon
Portland need better blowjob givers so step aboard if you are in.
Bullshit.
Thinking like this has continued to keep PDX in a quaint backwater of a city.
Which is fine in some ways, sure…
But I’d like to think we are capable of more.
Heh
“Young, part time workers enjoying the relaxed, affordable lifestyle”…
Oregon should pass a sales tax that only applies to these folks, so they too can actually contribute to society. Also, REGISTER YOUR CAR, you fucking dead beat. I am so tired of seeing expired tags on out of state license plates.

Take Art Alexis with you and turn off the light. Bro.
No matter how much your transplants want to complain about this I, Anon’s, they are true. Urban Growth boundary, part of what keeps this area so awesome means we are full. But Salem still has room!
Maybe people come here to die. They hear it is heaven.
Every one that is from somewhere besides Portland, our time is up. Some people have made it clear that we may ruin their pristine life.
Oh, you say you were transferred by your job? Not good enough, GO AWAY.
You are a Doctor or Nurse coming here to help the sick and poor. GO AWAY
You brought 2000 jobs to Portland in three years. GO AWAY, someone local would have figured it out.
Do not pollute Portland’s born and bred lineage, Go AWAY
Just jazzing you guys.
Bitch, please. I’m a third generation Portland native and have seen my hometown be overtaken by transplants; I’ve watched all the placed I grew up hanging out at (LaLuna, Big Bang!) disappear, only to be replaced by crap. But you know what? I don’t care anymore. So much has changed that it’s not worth complaining about. Portland is turning into SF and there’s not a whole lot that can be done about it. On the plus side, transplants have brought a lot of happiness to my life-my husband is a transplant, as are some of my closest friends and I’m grateful that something drew them here because they all mean a lot to me. So suck it up or move somewhere else.
