If these guys are douchey, and you run into them a lot, you should ask why you are attracted to the same places as douchebags. If you are so different from them, shouldn't you be hanging out in places where they wouldn't go?

Before we have "the best urban environmental agency in the world," I would rather have my streets paved, parks maintained, water delivered to me for less than $500/gallon, and many other core services.
In a year when City Hall is cutting $20 million from the budget, losing the eco-roof program and some planners doing redundant river work is just fine with me.
Frankly, I think killing redundant programs/staff among our jumble of bureaus could have made up most of the budget gap by itself. Kudos to Hales for being an adult and making tough choices instead of just borrowing more money like Adams would have done.

The couple of times I watched Whitney (there is no worthy excuse for that behavior, so I won't make one up) I think this guy actually bugged me more than Whitney. I think it's his giant forehead and 90's hair.

He didn't seize anything. The DOJ subpoenaed phone records from the phone company. The target isn't a journalist, or the AP, but a government worker who leaked classified information.
