Seeking to end conflicting reports about the death of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupier LaVoy Finicum, the FBI released aerial footage of the traffic stop that led an Oregon State Police officer to kill him on the side of a highway on Wednesday. The video shows a white truck driven by Finicum stopped by several black SUVs. It stays put for minutes, before taking off. Finicum, who was traveling with other occupiers, runs the truck off the road when he encounters a roadblock (at around the 5:45 mark) and pops out with his hands up. When he repeatedly reaches into his coat or waistband, he’s shot. It’s a different version of events than many militants had offered. Immediately after Finicum’s death, there were rumors he’d been shot while on his knees, with his hands up.

“As the Sharp clan waited to hear if Victoria was alive, they sang gospel songs for a crowd gathered at a senior center — sobbing all the way through.” The NYT‘s got a great story about the family gospel troop that came to visit the Oregon occupiers, but didn’t expect one of their own to witness a man being killed.

The standoff STILL isn’t over. There are four people still holed up at the wildlife refuge, sort of begging the FBI to let them leave without arrest. The feds aren’t saying which of the remaining occupiers they’re interested in cuffing. The group’s leader, Ammon Bundy, called again on Thursday for the occupiers to mosey. And he got his own donut at Voodoo!

Moda Health Plans would probably like that Rose Garden naming rights money back. The Portland-based health insurer is performing poorly enough that state regulators have put it under “supervision,” essentially making sure it doesn’t make any rash decisions. Just a couple weeks after offering up a bold plan to raise the state’s minimum wage to at least $13.50 (and Portland’s to $15.52), Gov. Kate Brown may be having second thoughts. Businesses are mad, unions have concerns, and there’s a chance Brown’s going to revamp her proposal.

TriMet installed “swing gates” that protect people from the Orange Line Max trains that rumble through SE Portland. Also: They make it really hard for people in wheelchairs to get where they’re going.

Another Republican debate, another load of talk about Donald Trump—who wasn’t even there. Instead, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio savored their role as focal points in Trump’s absence (he was boycotting). We’re like three days out from the Iowa caucuses people. This is about to get real.
