Then the public pays for it.
I remember Trimet being excited about coming back to life after the pandemic. We all were. But, Lord how wrong were they? I remember they implemented increased frequency to many bus lines. I remember they asked us, the public, for opinions on a certain line if it should run on weekends. I was opposed because I knew it would be mostly empty. But they did it anyway. They want our opinion but their minds are already made up. They added an overnight bus. And Lord, how quickly that failed for the first round of budget cuts. Did we get a fare increase? I can’t remember for sure, but I feel like we did. It went from 2.50 to 2.80? Then the ever so innovative Green double bus. Another failure. I have never seen that line even half full. Not to mention people can just walk on in the back without paying. Heck, I see people walk on without paying right in front of the drivers. And Trimet wonders why? Of course, are any of the leaders making these decisions out in the trenches actually experiencing a daily commute 365 days a year? So now Trimet will spend countless dollars they don’t have to remove, change, and recreate stops and any other resources involved with rerouting a line. As life finds a way, the public will find other alternatives for Trimets unreliability and failures. I’ve been using Trimet less and less and will continue to do so after they will cut the line I’ve been riding everyday for the past 20 years.—Anonymous
