We’ve been teased with glimpses before, but here’s our first honest-to-goodness look at a still from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright’s upcoming adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s amazing and fantastic and must-read Scott Pilgrim comics.
Goddamn! And no, I’m not going to explain what’s going on in that image, because if you can’t make at least one or two good guesses, then you probably haven’t read the books, and jesus, get on it already.
The above image goes hand-in-hand with a more straightforward shot of the cast:
In today’s paper, I wrote about how I want to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World so badly that it hurts. That pain is now somewhere between “all-encompassing” and “excruciating.”
Hat tip to AICN.

Is it wrong that I want to sex up Knives? She’s got a crazy-samurai-dad. And she’s crazy. And of the girls in the series, she’s the one with the self-esteem problems. And self-esteem problems are also hot.
Wait, Scott gets the sword after he fights the evil-ex-girlfriend. That’s like book 4 or 5. How much of the story line are they shoving in this movie? Book 7 hasn’t even come out yet. I call shenanigans on this.
The power of love is a curious thing.
Edgar tweeted those hours ago, and I forget who.. someone.. Devin? Posted them yesterday.
Graham: according to O’Malley, the movie and the final book are slated to be released around the same time, however the movie ending will distance itself from the book a bit.
At least, that was the word a few months ago.
Never read the comics, or even heard of this, but those stills look great.
