BFD,Apple.
Newsflash: Apple involved in “over-hyping and under-delivering” shock.
I just want to know who is a big enough fan to want the box set, but not a big enough fan to already have ripped the CDs on their computer.
This is sort of a big deal from a legal standpoint. There had been a protracted and long legal battle between Apple Records and Apple Computer. This is tactile proof that they’ve finally and totally buried the hatchet. I’m sure lots and lots of money was involved as well.
This would have been great news for many people ten or twelve years ago. Imagine (hah) if the Beatles catalog was one of the first big digital releases.
Also, so much money moving behind the scenes here. So very much.
there’s a big difference between “i don’t care” and “it’s not important”. measured in units of “look-at-me”.
Hey, how about this instead Apple: why don’t you go ahead and improve the actual iTunes app so that it doesn’t completely suck?
@CAT: I hate you so much (imagine).
Apple’s crowning achievement is turning every idiotic thing they do into a press event.
They’re like the yuppie couple that finally have that one, precious and planned child and we get to hear about every goddamn bowel movement that kid makes until they’re ten.
I rarely buy from iTunes. Only if I want a song here or there. Hell, the other day I found an album that I wanted three songs from, but it was only $2 more to buy the album used off Amazon, including shipping. Better quality audio file, can play it in my wife’s car which doesn’t have iPod hookups, and I have a semi-permanent backup in case Apple fucks up my library as it has before.
I’ll buy the entire Beatles catalog from iTunes if they add a fucking record label tag to the program. It’s in the ID3 tags; they just don’t utilize it for some reason. It drives me INSANE.
