The longer the Forest for the Trees project sticks around, the more visible the gifts they bring to the city become. 2015 will be the third year of the non-profit’s endeavors in Portland: They facilitate the creation of the large-scale murals that have been increasingly dotting the city’s landscape, keeping an approximately 50/50 mix between local artists and those they fly in from all over the world. So far they’ve been between 35 different murals—well curated, thought provoking pieces that have become landmarks and, as they put it, contribute to “Portland’s reputation as a creative cultural destination.”
The 2015 project is currently funding on Indiegogo in order to get money for supplies, lifts, and travel expenses. The funding video is also worth watching to get a sense of how many of the pieces you see as you go about your daily business came about as the result of the project’s efforts.
