To the Blogtown commenter who sent me the following book of poems by Leonard Nimoy… THANK YOU.

(The accompanying letter didn’t specify whether or not the giver would like to be publicly identified for giving the gift, but if you’d like to ‘fess up in the comments below, be my guest!) Anyway as the rest of you may know, Leonard Nimoy is quite the artsy-fartsy poet and photographer, and it all comes together in this 1973 book of poetry entitled, You & I. Here’s a selection entitled, “I Am.”

I am
I am ready
I am ready to give
I am ready to give and receive
I am ready to give and receive love

HAW! HAW! HAW!!! THAT’S TERRIBLE!! FUCK YOU, SPOCK! (But sincerely, thanks for the book, “commenter.”)

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. Needs a
    dash more
    realism.
    Let’s try…

    I am
    I am ready
    I am ready to give
I am ready to give and receive
I am ready to give and receive love
I am ready to give and receive love and, later, restraining orders
