Free donuts on my commute? Oh, well, yes please…
Tuesday, May 12, 7:30 to 9:00 am – Pioneer Courthouse Square
The City of Portland Transportation Options Division is hosting our annual Bike to Work Breakfast for cyclists on Tuesday, May 12, in celebration of National Bike to Work Week and Bike Month. The event will be held at Pioneer Courthouse Square from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. Bagels, donuts, coffee and tea will be served to hungry cyclists as a thank you for contributing to the health and livability of Portland!

I certainly don’t mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, and it’s very nice to offer free breakfast, but Pioneer Square is not particularly well located for bike commuters.
The only typical bike route that runs alongside the square is for a NoPo to PSU/Cityhall ride, and the MAX tracks on the other 3 sides of it are not particularly welcoming to bikes.
Lownsdale Square and Chapman Square would be more bike friendly options, and have the advantage of being along a major bike traffic corridor.
Oh well, maybe next time.
Agreed. I’m gonna miss this anyway, bike in shop.
No person shall throw any ball, disc or other object, use roller skates or skateboards, ride any bicycle or other wheeled device other than a medical mobility device or a child stroller or baby carriage, or roll any shopping cart within Pioneer Courthouse Square.
haha
yeah well
“No person shall smoke in any part of Pioneer Courthouse Square.”
I’ve seen rentacops smoking there!
and I love this one:
“No person shall possess any graffiti instrument in Pioneer Courthouse Square with the intent that the instrument be used to tamper with, mar or deface property therein, or knowing that another person intends to so use it, or when a reasonable person would know that the instrument is likely to be so used. “
So you can carry graffiti equipment, but the legality all has to do with one’s perception of what you intend to do with the objects. How Reverse-Zenlike!
