In the German tradition of Bier Bikes, a company in Bend has constructed this rolling bar that patrons pedal along.

Cycle Pub is strictly BYOB and it’s time to break out the Hamms—no glass allowed on board. Drinkers partake of their beverages while pedaling under the counter. The company gives tours of 2-3 hours around Bend, so the bier bike rolls from location to location while the pedalers get more and more intoxicated.

Looks here’s a bunch of photos:

And, no, I have no idea how this is legal. Maybe it’s not? Check back for continuing coverage of this important issue.

  1. @TSW, it’ll probably move quite slow, I don’t think the 90 degree effect will be too bothersome at slow speeds. Of course if it does get up in speed like a regular bike that would indeed be kind of nasty.

  2. Yeah, this is a pedalcar. Which means it’s only a matter of time till some cop starts handing out open-container and DUI citations. I mean…it’s Deschutes County.

  3. They have this in Minneapolis… it’s called ‘pedal pub’ there. My friend has done it and says it is a blast. Why is this not happening in Portland yet?
