Every week The Mercury wanders the streets to bring you hot photos of a PDXXX bike and a mini-interview with its scintillating rider.
This Week: The White Bike
Never have I met a bike so like its rider. My interview with the dapper-dressed Richard was as minimalist, frank and monotone as a straight white line.
Rider: Richard Geesman
Bike: All white KHS frame with Physique saddle, unknown gear set
Spotted At: Last Thursday on Alberta

Did you paint your bike white or did it come that way?
I sprayed it. I took everything apart and put it back together.
Why did you paint it white?
I wanted one color. White is a good color.
But some people say that white doesn’t even qualify as a color.
I know. That’s why I wanted it.
Do you have a name for it? Is it the Ghost Bike?
No, it’s just the bike. You can call it Bike.
Do you always dress like this to match the bike?
Yeah, every day.
How do people respond to your bike?
Do they respond? I don’t know.
What’s the most interesting thing about your bike?
It works.

What a sweet talker.
Hey, nobody told me Andy Dick moved to Portland…
He looks like he has a moleskin filled with Rimbaud-inspired scribbling.
This bike isn’t bad. Really boring… but hey whatever. At least this one doesn’t have dead poultry hot-glued to it.
the saddle model is actually spelled “Fizik” with some fancypants accents n’ shit, but that hardly matters.
that guy & his bike are a few brass whirlygigs short of a steampunk convention
“White is a good color.” That is one goddamned iconic quote if I ever heard one.
“It works” is the best answer possible.
Brilliant answers despite the often inane questions.
