An average morning rush hour in Utrecht, Holland. All that’s missing is the Benny Hill/Yakkety Sax soundtrack.
This is an ordinary Wednesday morning in April 2010 at around 8.30 am. Original time was 8 minutes that were compressed into 2 minutes, so everything is 4 times faster than in reality. The sound is original. This is one of the busiest junctions in Utrecht a city with a population of 300,000. No less than 18,000 bicycles and 2,500 buses pass here every day. And yet Google Street View missed it. Because private motorized traffic is restricted here.

Guessing by the title saying ‘Utrecht’ and ‘Netherlands’. I’m going to go on a wild guess and say that’s not Germany.
No arm bands, not Germany.
Amazing how many citizens of holland are still alive when they don’t wear bike helmets! (I don’t think I saw one in the whole video!) When your transportation system is actually designed to make it safe to bike (not the way we currently get tacked on to the side of a road) you don’t have to wear a helmet…
Allow me to add Blabby’s commentary:
So rush hour should look like communist China circa 1970? How “progressive”.
Wow, the Dutch are really fast. No wonder they’re so much better than us–at least regarding smoking weed and prostitution.
I like how they’re not all “garbed up” just to go to work. The knobs at my office can’t seem to ride their bikes to work without looking like Lance Armstrong.
Notice you don’t see a single ass hat trying to look like some uber-hipster bike messenger on a fixie. In this town those types act like they invented bicycle-transportation and are the only ones who should even be on bikes. Oh wait, 8:30am, that’s right, people with trust funds don’t have to get up to go to work in the morning.
Yo, this should be re-posted–but slowed down–so I can get a good look at all these sweet lil’ biddies on bicycles. I should go Dutch!
How funny! NO ONE is wearing their precious lifesaving helmet! OMG!! How many are still alive?
