Listen, Portland. We love you. And we love pizza. So the Portland Mercury is teaming up with our pals at Jim Beam, Tetra Cannabis, and dozens of local pizza shops to bring you the third annual Portland Pizza Week—$2 slices for everyone!
Each of the following restaurants in Northeast Portland will be offering a special $2 slice from April 16-21, 2018:
Sizzle Pie: Snake River Party Boi
What’s on it: Chipotle red sauce, red onion pico, vegan pastor, aji amarillo sauce, and cilantro.
When you can eat it: 11 am-5 pm
Things to know: The "Snake River Party Boi" and the "Out Of Step" slices will be offered at both the Hollywood and East Burnside Sizzle Pie locations.
What they say: "Inspired by Evel Knievel's attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon, the 'Snake River Party Boi' was born. Once consumed, the spiciness of this slice will make anyone feel confident enough to attempt feats they never thought possible."
Slice Pizza Co: Nicky's Holiday Sausage with Portobello and Shaved Parmesan
What’s on it: Venison and rabbit with cranberry and applewood bacon, portobello mushrooms, and shaved parmesan.
When you can eat it: 11 am-9 pm
Things to know: We're also offering ANY vegan slice for $2!
HOTLIPS Pizza: Chèvre, 'Shrooms + Whips
What’s on it: Portland Cremery chèvre, mushrooms, garlic whips, red peppers, and an olive oil base.
When you can eat it: 11 am-10 pm
Things to know: Limit of two slices per customer.
What they say: "This is HOTLIPS Pizza's first-ever veggie slice submission for Pizza Week. It's a team-up with Portland Creamery, and features small-batch, fresh artisan goat cheese and Yamhill County mushrooms cooked in our house-made garlic whip pesto (whips from Persephone Farm) with red peppers."
Hogan’s Goat: The Carpizzio Slice
What’s on it: Tomato mustard base, mozzarella, parmesan, pecorino cheese, sliced beef, horseradish, green onion, and chives.
When you can eat it: Tues-Sat 4-9 pm (closed Mon)
Things to know: Two slice limit, no whole pie option.
What they say: "We're doing a play on beef carpaccio, with mozzarella, Parmesan, pecorino, and a tomato mustard sauce, plus fresh horseradish, green onion, chives, and a thin slice of beef."
Pizzicato: The Chimichurri Verde
What’s on it: Garlic and olive oil base, mozzarella, Painted Hills skirt steak, caramelized onions, roasted purple potatoes, and with house-made chimichurri.
When you can eat it: 11:30 am-9 pm
What they say: "Seared Painted Hills skirt steak topped with caramelized onions and roasted purple potatoes, finished with vibrant, house-made chimichurri."
Amalfi’s: The Notorious B.R.P.
What’s on it: Hickory bacon, roasted potatoes, scallions, and pesto ranch.
When you can eat it: Tues-Thurs 4-10 pm, Fri 4-11 pm, Sat 3-11 pm
Things to know: No takeout.
What they say: "Swing by for a "Notorious B.R.P.": Hickory-smoked bacon, our famous pesto ranch dressing, roasted potatoes, scallions, and house-made red sauce. Want a mini pizza instead of a slice? No biggie—mo' ranch, less problems!"
What’s on it: Sweet soy brisket, charred broccoli, hoisin onions, and chili oil.
When you can eat it: 11:30 am-6 pm
What they say: "Sweet soy brisket and charred broccoli, with hoisin-glazed onions and fried chili oil!"
Bella Pizza: The PILF
What’s on it: American and mozzarella cheese, ground beef, onions, tomatoes, pickles, shredded iceberg lettuce, and Thousand Island dressing.
When you can eat it: 11 am-10 pm
Things to know: Limit of two slices per person, and no takeout.
What they say: "Our burgerific Pizza Week special with American cheese sauce, Thousand Island dressing, and bread-and-butter pickles (all house made) is pure comfort food heaven!"
The Station: I Dream of Electric Goats
What’s on it: Bacon, apple, mozzarella, arugula, goat cheese cream, house-made hot honey, and garlic oil.
When you can eat it: Mon-Thurs 4-10 pm, Fri 4-11 pm, Sat noon-11 pm, Sun noon-9 pm
Things to know: "Two-slice limit and no slice take-out. Whole pie take-out is available.
What they say: "Chef Nicolai Scott came up with this dish as throwback to the flavors of childhood. Remember apples baking in the oven? Bacon sizzling in the pan? Didn’t everything taste better with melty mozzarella? Find it all in one slice at the Station Public House!"
Back to Eden: Chili Rubbed Cauliflower Pizza
What’s on it: BBQ sauce, house-made mozzarella, chili-rubbed cauliflower, caramelized shallots, and scallions.
When you can eat it: 4-10 pm
Things to know: Limit two special slices per guest. Whole pie discount is $3 off retail cost.
What they say: "House-made tangy BBQ is the base for this pizza, which sits on top of our gluten-free sourdough crust! It's topped with vegan cashew mozzarella, chili-rubbed cauliflower, caramelized shallots, and scallions. If you like things a little spicy and outside of the box, this pizza is definitely for you!"
Via Chicago: Olive Tapenade/Tomato
What’s on it: Olives, tomatoes, sauce, and cheese.
When you can eat it: 11am-close
Things to know: Two slice limit. Take-out available, but no delivery.
What they say: "We’re taking you back to the old country—by way of Chicago—with our take on this classic combo. We begin with our olive tapenade as the base, throw on copious amounts of mozzarella, and then top it off with our house-made sauce sprinkled with sun-dried tomatoes. Mangia bene!"
Handsome Pizza: The Famous Original [Your Name Here]
What’s on it: House-made pork sausage, shaved onion, Colin Couch Memorial Hot Sauce, tomato sauce, and parmesan.
When you can eat it: 1-8 pm (closed Tues)
Things to know: Special slices limited to two slices per person, per visit.
What they say: "Our slice is a tribute to the great history of New York pizza joints and to Adam Kuban, the creator of the Slice blog and a founder of Serious Eats—a true pizza hero. It's a variation of his signature pizza, the "Famous Original A," and an ode to all the pizza lovers out there."
