It’s Thanksgiving week, so before you get stuffed with literal food and drink, let’s catch up on all the latest food and drink news, yes? YES!

CLOSINGS

In probably the saddest food news of the week, the adorable and yummy Byways Cafe (1212 NW Glisan) announced via Facebook that they will be shuttering at the end of the year due to losing their lease.

Most shocking: Ken Forkish’s Trifecta Tavern (726 SE 6th)—a darling of critics and frequent guest of many “best of” lists—will be closing up shop at the end of 2019, per the Oregonian.

After 15 years in business, Eat Pizza (2037 SW Morrison) closed its doors forever yesterday, Sunday November 24.

The WW reports that a new food cart pod called Cartside will be opening very near the Moda Center (1825 N Williams) in January which will make getting pre-game snacks and beers much easier.

Very popular vegan restaurant The Sudra has moved to a new (and expanded) location at 28 NE 28th in the former Tapalaya space, according to Eater.

IN NATIONAL FOOD NEWS…

Wildly overrated chicken sandwich purveyor Chik-fil-A, after years of pushing a hard-right Christian agenda says it will stop donating money to anti-LGBTQ organizations… so they want a cookie for changing from being active bigots to being passive bigots? Go fuck yourself HARD, Chik-fil-A.

And with that, have a great Thanksgiving and if you have new food news tips, please send them to food@portlandmercury.com. We will be eternally grateful.
