Guys, remember Matt Davis? Former Mercury News Editor, general rabble-rouser? He moved back to jolly ol’ wherever-he’s-from not too long ago, and now he’s Kickstarting a project that sounds pretty cool: It’s a magazine called The Luddite dedicated to all-things analogue. He’s raising money on Kickstarter to fund it, an irony that the pitch addresses:

Matt has a message for the people of Blogtown:

“I miss you all. And I am sorry that I was such a horrible blog troll to you all. But now I realise that I had a TECHNOLOGY ILLNESS. And I have invented the cure.

“Also please give me some money.”

Good ol’ Matt Davis.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. I love a nice bulleted bl-esponse:

โ€ขI love you all. And blimey. A few people actually did give me some money! Thanks for the Blogtown love, guys. Oh, the irony. Technology. The Internet. Money. Woohoo!

โ€ขBritish ยฃ’s are ‘Option’+’#’ on your American keyboards. And ยฃ12 is about $17 at today’s rate. Sorry I know it’s expensive. But this project is a bit experimental and we have to pay people for their hard work. Actually it’s probably best to just donate $100 and then you can be sure you paid for the international postage.

โ€ขChunty: New Orleans worked out great on the journalism front. Thanks for asking! Mainly focused on criminal justice issues. Didn’t do too well with managing my personal life down there, though, but that’s always been a little turbulent, innit. All much better now, back in London. Might come back to the U.S. someday. Who knows. Got my citizenship just in case.

    โ€ขThanks again everyone!!!

    xx

  2. -Wow, so it takes a post about Matt Davis to get all you old commenters back here? I miss him as much as the next troll, but stop by the comments section once in a while.

-I will probably give you some money for this. Mostly because I’ve always liked your jib cut.

-How do I pound sign on the iPads?
