You might as well pour poison in your ears and call it a day. My favorite velvet-voiced newsman is leaving the biz:
Carl Kasell, the famed voice of NPR News for three decades turned comedy star of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!, has announced he’s stepping down this spring after a five-decade career in broadcasting. Kasell will record his final broadcast for Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! this spring; celebration shows are planned in the show’s home city of Chicago, and in Washington, D.C.
He’ll still do the voice-mail prizes for Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, thankfully.

WHO?
For some reason I thought he had already retired a few years ago. Sad. I probably would’ve kept NPR as my alarm clock station instead of Radio Disney if I had known. Except Kassell’s voice always just made me want to go back to sleep and dream of triangle unicorns under the sea or something.
At least they got rid of the “SUPPORT FOR NPR” guy. Man, his voice was annoying.
Casey Kasem is retiring? Who’s gonna be Shaggy now??!?
