FBI agents and local police who are part of the Joint Terrorism Task Force raided multiple houses in Portland, Olympia, and Seattle this morning—but it’s still unclear what the authorities were looking for, exactly. UPDATE 7/26: The FBI emailed to note that the news of raids in Olympia and Seattle is not accurate—they served grand jury subpoenas in those cities, but did not search houses. Sorry for the faulty info. /update

No arrests were made in the raids and the warrants for the searches are sealed, which means they’re not public record. The most the FBI will say is the raids are part of an “ongoing violent crime investigation.” They issued grand jury subpoenas to individuals in all three cities.

However, the Oregonian talked with the owner of one of the three homes in NE Portland who said the FBI may have been seeking a group of “anarchists” who lived there a year ago and ran an info booth at Last Thursday. In Portland, the three houses raided were 4820 NE 31st Ave, 7129 NE 8th Ave, and 6846 N. Greenwich. It’s not clear whether this is related, but earlier this month, police raided the home of Occupy Mayday protesters in Seattle.

This is a clear example of one of the controversial issues about Portland being a part of JTTF. The FBI can work with police to raid Portlanders’ houses, but then not make public any information about it… except maybe include some details in a bare-bones report about their involvement down the line. Until then, we’re in the dark.

    Just THIS PAST weekend two innocent un-armed men were straight-up murdered by cops in Anaheim alone! And when rightfully out-raged neighbors protested, the bastard-ass cops started firing upon them! A pizza deliver guy was gunned down in FL by cops just for opening his front door! They just shot him dead for NO goddamned reason. If yall think i’m making any of this shit up, i’ve got plenty of links and solid sources for ya!

    How come these pigs didn’t raid JAMES HOLMES’ place before last Friday, huh??? They had to have known good and goddamned well about him in advance!   8. This strikes me as being one of the least useful things that law enforecement might do with its time. Historically, yeah anarchists blew a lot of shit up. These days? They aren’t capable of doing dick about shit, as is evidenced by any sort of conversation with them. So any police incursions into their lives is basically just muscle-flexing.

  13. All the houses they searched, should be wise to look for bugs in their homes now, it would not surprise me in the slightest that the FBI planted bugs in these houses. Especially if they didn’t actually charge anyone with anything.

  14. I just got back from Berlin last month. My family still lives there. I was born in Berlin, raised in Gorham…. so yes, please go there….

    They just don’t give a fuck anymore. I’m thinking on moving back after 13 years away from there. The people are burning the city down and amazingly property is still outrageously high.

You are rummaging through some empty house in Portland Oregon at 6am, not dropping into Tora Bora to take out Bin Laden. I guess you were well protected from that splinter on the door frame.   18. The FBI emailed to say that the information about raids in Olympia and Seattle was false—they served subpoenas, but not search warrants, in those cities. I’ve changed the post and headline to reflect that. Still no comment from them on housing prices in Manchester.

  20. I live in NE, a block from one of the houses in question. The headline about the NW made me think that they had pulled this up on Trendy Third too.

    I guess I was right. All the terrorists/anarchists/? are right here in NEPO. Oh. There was no one home? Then why the heck do you have to use 3 flash grenades at 6:00 AM? Come on. It sounded like a .45. We have enough of that already.

  23. This is really troubling–more targeting of activists, which is occurring all over the country now. It’s especially troubling considering the fact that the authorities have been covering up the biggest criminal operation in Portland’s history–one in which hundreds to thousands of citizens were manipulated into joining. This organization is run by ACTUAL terrorists, and their actions pose an ACTUAL threat to public safety and stability. The good news is, we have been watching. All of those involved, including FBI and officials involved in silencing victim, will be held accountable. This was a raid and subpoena round up for young folk that protested police brutality in Spokane WA. about five years age in regards to the handicap man that was beaten to death by Spokane police. All the kid (at the time) on the 4th of July had dressed up in fake cop outfits and did a march that ended at the city park where they stopped to have lunch. The Spokane police began to swarm the kids as they ate there vegan lunch and started taking pictures of the kids. The camera being only inches from their face one of the youth put his hand up to ask the officer to please give him some space and at the moment the cop pounced the kids, zip tied them and staked them like human logs! Almost all these kids were strait edge and virgins, with no priors arrest. After much up row by the public all charges were dropped against the kid for the most part. Two of them still had charges brought against them do to the fact that a short time later they changed themselves to the door of a circus to protest animal cruelty. At the time the photo’s where taken our states police force sold these kids out as anarchist to the FEDs, all well knowing they would doom these poor kids for life to be put on a watch list for been exactly what our forefathers were Anarchist. For both Gorge Washington and Benjamin Franklin were charge with and found guilty of been anarchist. The thing is, you got to ask yourself is when did our state sellout to Governmentism and no longer supports patriotism, for these kids where just practicing their patriotic rights to assemble and now they’re looking at a life on the run or possible jail time just for abiding by their constitutional rights. These kids of our fair state do no deserve this kind of treatment and if the public does not take a stand now it will be your home the FEDs come to next.
