Yesterday afternoon, a the Wendy’s on NE 30th and Sandy became host to a scene that nightmares are made from.
According to the police account, a 10-year-old boy walked toward the Wendy’s bathroom, where this guy was allegedly waiting:
The guy, 49-year-old Adam Brown, is a registered sex offender who had a warrant out on him for violating parole. He allegedly grabbed the kid and forced him into the bathroom and attempted to sexually assault him. The kid fought back and Brown pulled out a knife and stabbed him multiple times.
The boy’s father tried to open the bathroom door but it was locked—a Wendy’s manager quickly brought the key to open the door and Brown opened it himself, shoved the victim out, then locked the door from the inside.
The Portland Police SERT team responded and negotiated with the guy for two hours, eventually talking him out and getting him to surrender for arrest. Brown was booked on 10 counts and the poor kid was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and is now recovering from his wounds.
What a scary incident for all involved—there’s no way to make any sense of crimes like this.
If there is any justice in this world, hopefully someone big will do the same fucking thing to him in prison. He should be there for a long, long time.
