I could blame it on any number of things, including a week-long trip to the LA beer desert, but actually there’s not much to it. I was just too busy to drink one unique Oregon beer a day. Also, I didn’t get around to making it to the Oregon Brewers Fest. I know, I know. You can put this on my admittedly huge FAIL list right beside “Eating an entire Double Down,” “Spelling,” and “The entire year of 1995.” At least I didn’t do this.
But you know what? I’m still committed to Oregon beer. I really am. It’s a lifelong commitment too—not just a seamy month of yeasty passion. Maybe I shouldn’t count myself out just yet. I mean, I’d gotten up to 11 beers in the 31 Beer Challenge by the time I lost my way. I do have two days left in July. Of course that would mean drinking 20 beers in the next 36 hours. Possible? Certainly. Will I actually try it? Ask me later tonight.
But I know you’ve done better. Tell me, folks. What were your Oregon Beer Month favorites?

I thought the IPA from Mt. Emily Ale House in La Grande was the perfect, refreshing summer beer.
Also, it ain’t Oregon, but I had an awesome IPA last night from Black Raven Brewing in Seattle. Crisp and hoppy, no lingering aftertaste. Excellent.
Do it!
you can completely redeem yourself in one day by attending brewpublicrawl 2.0 tomorrow.

you can sample all the beers you need to sample to meet your quota, plus meet the brewers of 18 oregon breweries and apologize to them for this month’s lack of coverage!
that last link didn’t work they way I thought it would.

From what I drank this month, Widmer’s Bourbon Barrel Aged KGB Russian Imperial Stout was far and away the most memorable.
that KGB was really good this year. As for my favorite oregon beer of the month, I guess it was probably cascade manhattan transfer. I wish they’d do more blends using the sour pie cherry kriek. Adding the bourbon and oak to it for the manhattan was pretty damn delicious.
I’m holding out until tomorrow to declare a victor though, it’s looking like there will be one or two in the running tomorrow at the baileys event.
Golden Valley Kolsch carried the day for me.
I like that GV Kolsch a lot. I’m a big fan of the Southern Oregon Brewing Na Zdravi’ Czech pilsner too.
I have had an amazing #31beers month so far and have discovered some new oregon brews and breweries. I am so glad I did it but unlike your loss of 5lbs last year, I have definitely gone the other way. I am going to have to slow waaaaayyyy down after Saturday.
My highlights so far:
Deschutes – Black Butte XXII
Cascade – The Vine
Widmer – Deadlift IIPA
Upright – Gin Barrel Aged Apricot Ale
Deschutes – St. Ryan
