Conservative bigot haven the National Review points out that conservative economic “genius” Paul Ryan wants to debunk the rumors that he’s an Ayn Rand fanatic:

“I, like millions of young people in America, read Rand’s novels when I was young. I enjoyed them,” Ryan says. “They spurred an interest in economics, in the Chicago School and Milton Friedman,” a subject he eventually studied as an undergraduate at Miami University in Ohio. “But it’s a big stretch to suggest that a person is therefore an Objectivist.”

“I reject her philosophy,” Ryan says firmly. “It’s an atheist philosophy.”

Right. Because the big problem with Ayn Rand is her atheism. Ryan goes on to say, “If somebody is going to try to paste a person’s view on epistemology to me, then give me Thomas Aquinas.” Okay. Let’s give you Thomas Aquinas:

Charity is the form, mover, mother and root of all the virtues.

The Paul Ryan budget is the least charitable proposal I have seen from a national figure in a very long time. It’s got way more to do with Ayn Rand than with Thomas Aquinas. It’s an every-man-for-himself document, not a Christian document.

  1. The most important thing I learned from reading Ayn Rand: people who believe in their own superiority are complete assholes.

  2. The most important thing I learned from reading Ayn Rand: OMG WHY DID THEY MAKE THE TEXT SO SMALL ON THIS PRINTING? IT BURNS! EVERY PART OF THIS IS TERRIBLE.

    I didn’t finish the book.

  3. So, it is your belief that Aquinas meant by “charity” “giving away other peoples’ money”? Interesting. Any citations backing up that definition?

How about just any justification for plunder= charity apart from Aquinas, oh righteous one.

So it would be very logical to conclude that every politician is an asshole.
