Kiehl’s

712 NW 23rd

The Kiehl’s company has been around since 1851, but the location on NW 23rd only just opened. Over a 150 years is a long time to develop hundreds of lotions, cremes, and beauty care products. Here are five that a human being can not possibly live without.

โ€ข Ultra Moisturizing Eye Stick: “It’s convenient like a tube of lipstick and it has SPF 30 sunscreen, Vitamin E, and Parsol 1789.”

โ€ข Creme de Corps: “The richest, most yummiest body creme known to humankind. It’s great for all-over use.”

โ€ข Intensive Treatment for Dry & Callused Areas: “If I could only take one item with me to a desert island, this would be it.”

โ€ข White Eagle Shaving Crรจme: “People who don’t get excited about shaving creme, get excited about this.”

โ€ข Lycopene Facial Moisturizing Cream: “It has a tomato base with Beta-Carotene and Vitamin E and is rich in antioxidants.”

Movie Madness

4320 SE Belmont

Everyone knows that Movie Madness has a ton of great, hard-to-find movies. But they also have many a television show on VHS and DVD. Jesse would like to point out that they do not have Matlock–the single greatest mystery/courtroom drama ever–but they do have many other cult favorites.

โ€ข The Tripods (1984) “Bad BBC sci-fi television show with super-bad-ass, Dr. Who-style special effects.”

โ€ข Strangers With Candy (1999) “This is getting released on DVD this month. The Sedaris family is brilliant. ”

โ€ข V (1983): “You know, the show where the aliens look like people, but they’re really lizards?”

โ€ข Land Of The Lost (1974): “This is another show with great, campy special effects. All of Sid & Marty Krofft shows are great.”

โ€ข Shindig! (1964): “It’s like American Bandstand, except sponsored by The American Dairy Board. At the end of the show, a bunch of teenagers dance with a smiling cow.”
