If the recent case of Brittany Maynard intrigued you, and you haven’t yet, you really should watch Peter Richardson’s fantastic documentary How to Die in Oregon, which does an excellent, sensitive job of investigating Oregon’s emotionally complex legalization of death with dignity. In fact, take the weekend to do it, and then you’ll be all set for Monday, when NW Documentary will feature Richardson as its guest for DocTalk, a free, monthly series with documentarians to “share lessons learned, get feedback and build a network of support.”

Richardson has a few other credentials, too:

Peter’s thoughtful and compelling documentary work has gained widespread recognition, including the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance for his documentary. He also won the Center for Documentary Studies’ Film Maker Award, and received a 2012 Emmy Nomination for Best Documentary. The Chicago Sun-Times noted the film “will likely be viewed as one of the most historically significant documentaries of this decade.โ€

Peter recently finished directing two episodes of a landmark, Planet Earth-style documentary television series for Oprah Winfrey, entitled Belief, that explores faith and belief around the world which airs in 2015.
