The first anniversary of a new business is a special one. It's proof that your idea isn't going to fall on its face, and it feels like a fresh start with which to implement all the lessons learned through trial and error. The Hawthorne shop with possibly the biggest commitment to supporting local and small production work, Mag-Big is about to round that momentous corner, and man are they excited. Not content with merely a plate of cheese and crackers and some bubbly, they're pulling out the stops with an evening of live music and an art opening with work from Beth Olson, December Carson, and Jenn Finn, and it's also doubling as the soft opening of a new restaurant joining the building, the Hazel Room (details are scarce, but their description on Facebeook includes the words "American (New), British, French, Sandwiches"). Stop in to congratulate them while stealing on their snacks and drinks on Saturday, Oct 15, 6-9 pm.
