Jenny Hoyston and Sarah Gottesdiener‘s new monthly, Art Party, is gearing up for its second round on March 5 (at Branx, 10 pm, $5, 21+) this time with a fashion focus that includes two Portland designers who expertly smudge the demarcations of art and fashion on the regular: Julia Blackburn of Dust, and Emily Baker of Sword + Fern. Joining them is San Francisco DJ and “most fashionable person” according to SF Weekly, Chelsea Starr of House of Starr, debuting a new line at the event. Of course, because the art parties are about whipping together a whole mélange of arts, there will also be video installations from Pashly (AKA Susan Ploetz), live music by STLS (Lisa Schonberg‘s other band) and Atole, DJs, tarot readings, a possible body painting booth, and “a queer guerrilla jerkin’ dance troop” injecting the night with a second-wind performance around midnight. I’m hoping to squeeze in a nap before any of this.
